A little insight into why this website is called what it is...
It's a familiar refrain to most who know him. The all-important question and even more important answer.
Who is better looking than Uncle John?
Nobody.
It doesn't matter how old you are, or whether or not John is actually your uncle. It only matters that you know the question and you know the answer.
But it has nothing to do with vanity. At the heart of this simple exchange is this: It is consistent and familiar and it will make you smile. It's everything you need to know about John. He will consistently be there for you. He will make you feel like you've known him your whole life, even if you've just met. And he will make you smile.
John is my sister's husband, Technically my brother in law, but really my brother, Building this site and gathering these stories and notes has been a labor of love. Yes, I will be there for Vicki and John and Alyssa however and whenever they need me, but words have always been my "go to" for making sense of the world, so using them and collecting them here is my way of managing my feelings about John's stupid diagnosis and this stupid disease. It's not the most eloquent, of words, but sometimes stupid just fits.
So thank you for visiting and sharing.. Knowing John is a true blessing. If you haven't yet had the honor, coming here is a good start. I am sure after reading more about him you will want to meet him at Dunne's Pub for a beer or two.....and he will be more than happy to save you a seat.
